UK Study Plan Progression

If you are an O level or an N level academic stream graduate or currently on the way to complete your studies.  Foundation year program will you to progress to the first year of a Bachelor’s degree upon successful completion. This is a pathway into degrees that you want.

Advantages of doing a Foundation program in the UK:

1)Is a pre-university qualifying program and is a respected alternative to A Levels

2)Your place is guaranteed when you complete the Foundation year and achieve the grades stipulated in your offer letter.

3)For those who studied in a non-British curriculum but wish to pursue a degree at a UK university.

4)It acts as a bridge between your current qualifications and UK university undergraduate entry requirements and is designed to plug academic gaps, improve your English and familiarise you with UK life and culture in preparation for university.

5)Foundation courses can prepare you for a variety of subjects such as Business, Finance & Management; Computing; Law; Art and Design; Engineering; Social Science; Medicine; Science and Pharmacy; Media; and Humanities.

6)Certain foundation providers have partnerships with universities and can guarantee progression to that institution if the student achieves high enough grades. Many programmes will see the student based on campus, benefitting from full university status with complete access to libraries, equipment, and sporting facilities.

You can apply with your last year O’level results, or if you are sitting O’level exams this year, you can apply with your preliminary result in September/October, so that you are able to start the Foundation year either in January, April or September.

You are eligible for direct entry into the first year of a Bachelor’s Degree Program if you have good grades from GCE A Level or IB.

Bachelor degree (Arts/ Business/ Engineering/ Law/ Psychology etc) in the UK: 3 years direct honours.

Bachelor degree (Medicine/ Dentistry/ Vet Science etc) in the UK: 5 years - 6 years.

Some programs give you the option to undertake a one-year paid work placement after your 2nd year of study.

If you are not qualified for direct entry - You may choose the International Year One program.  An International Year One program is a full-time academic program equivalent to the first year of a Bachelor’s Degree. Successful completion of the International Year One program guarantees you direct entry into the second year of a range of Bachelor’s Degrees with some top universities, including the University of Exeter, Newcastle University, Sheffield, Surrey, Nottingham, etc

Students with a Singapore Polytechnic Diploma can be granted advanced standing (a.k.a. credit exemptions) to a Bachelor’s Degree Program on a case-by-case basis. Normally you can be granted 1-2 years of exemptions if the accumulated GPA is above 2.8. The amount of exemptions varies from university to university.

Bachelor degree (Arts/ Business/ Engineering/ Law/ Psychology etc) in the UK: 3 years direct honours.

Higher Ranked Universities in the UK may require at least a 3.0 GPA or higher GPA to apply for Year 1 entry, some may grant you 1 year off the 3 years degree.

Some universities may grant you 1 -2 years exemptions if your GPA is 2.8.

If your GPA is not high enough for credit exemptions at a highly-ranked university, you may still be accepted into the first year of a Bachelor’s Degree Program; or you can also ‘top up’ your diploma to a degree in 1 year with universities who provide such top-up options:

You can apply with your 5 semesters results, pending your final semester result, you will be issued a conditional offer if the assessment is successful and the conditional offer will be made an unconditional offer once the final semester result is submitted.

UK Masters Program is 1 - 1.5 years depending on the program.

Certain UK universities may accept Australia 3 years Bachelor Degrees into their Masters Program even though their Masters requires an Honours degree to be eligible.  Some universities may require students with an Australia non honours degree to undergo a Pre- Masters bridging program before admitting them into their Masters Program.
