Dr. Amanda Solaiman
Senior Lecturer in Formulation Sciences, Cosmetic Science Programme Leader
University of Sunderland

She is a lecturer in formulation sciences and a practicing pharmacist registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (2006–present). She graduated with an MPharm degree from the University of Sunderland in 2005 and completed the pre-registration year at the University Hospital of North Tees.

Her PhD was obtained in pharmaceutics, investigating a new capsule shell's physical, chemical, and mechanical properties for drug delivery. In addition, she undertook postdoctoral work developing orally dispersible tablet formulations.

She has been an academic at the University of Sunderland since 2011. She previously worked as an academic tutor at the university (2011-2020), teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students various courses (MPharm Pharmacy, BSc (Hons) Biopharmaceutical Science, BSc (Hons) Cosmetic Science, MSc Drug Development and Discovery, MSc Pharmaceutical and BioPharmceutical Formulations).

The University of Sunderland's BSc (Hons) Cosmetic Science Overview

The BSc (Hons) Cosmetic Science at the University of Sunderland, introduces relevant aspects of chemistry, physiology, and dermatology, as well as the regulatory marketing and business framework for cosmetics. You’ll also be introduced to the principles of formulation, with an emphasis on those related to cosmetics.

Graduates from Singapore Polytechnic's Diploma in Perfumery and Cosmetic Science with a GPA of 3.0 and above will gain admission to the 2nd year of the degree and complete the degree in just 2 years. The 2024/2025 annual tuition fee for the University of Sunderland's BSc (Hons) Cosmetic Science is £16,000 (approx. SGD 27,000), and scholarships are available too.
