To be qualified to practice Law in Singapore, you should have a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) or Juris Doctor (J.D.) from the following universities:
1) National University of Singapore (NUS) - 4 Years for LL.B
2) Singapore Management University (SMU) - 4 Years for LL.B / 3 Years for J.D
3) Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) - 4.5 to 6 Years for LL.B / 4 to 6 Years for J.D
4) Overseas institutions approved by the Singapore Institute of Legal Application (SILE)

After Graduating with a Applicable Law Degree From an Overseas University
1. Attain at least lower second class honours (2:2).
2. Pass Part A of the Singapore Bar Examinations (Optional 3 months Part A Bar Course available) - Part A of the Singapore Bar Examinations is a conversion examination applicable for all graduates from approved foreign universities who intend to apply for admission to the Bar.
3. Attend and complete the compulsory practice session and workshops at the 6 months preparatory course leading to Part B of the Singapore Bar and Examinations and pass Part B of the Singapore Bar Examinations- Part B is taken by graduates from both local and overseas universities.
4. Complete Practice Training in a Law firm for 6 months
From 2023, law graduates who want to be practising lawyers will have to complete one year of practice training with a firm instead of the current six months, after passing the Singapore Bar examinations. Part B of the exam will also become more stringent.
SILE recognised UK institutions for Undergraduate Law Programmes
The 2026/27 tuition fee for a Bachelor of Law degree in the UK ranges from £23,000 to £30,000 per year and the duration is from 3 years. Minimum entry requirements are A-Level or equivalent. Students with O-level qualifications may complete a foundation course in the UK before progressing to the undergraduate Law programmes.
